Japanese export earthenware vase, created in the distinctive Satsuma Style, which typically dates to the Meiji period (1868–1912).
A baluster or ovoid-shaped body with a sharply flared, wide rim and a narrowed, trumpet-style neck. Decorated in a traditional Satsuma color scheme dominated by iron-red, brown, cream, and heavy gold gilt detailing. The Main Panel: Features a detailed hand-painted scene depicting Satsuma Warriors or court figures in traditional armor and garments. The Upper Section: The neck and rim are adorned with highly dense geometric diaper patterns, stylized floral motifs, and raised enamel dots known as moriage work.
